This ride is geared towards the small child, timid adult or someone who may not be comfortable being in the saddle for an extended time. Originating from our Rockin’ M stable your guide will tour your group around the Salt River riparian areas. This ride will have some small water crossings and a good chance to see some wildlife that typically live along the rivers edge including ducks, geese, bald eagles, Moose, deer, and coyotes. (Approx. saddle time 1 hour)
The two hour ride departs from the horse stables at the beautiful Rockin’ M Ranch. Expect to see stunning panoramic views, wildflower meadows, and wildlife as this ride gains elevation into the Targhee National Forest. We often give guest the option for a river crossing at the end of the ride, conditions permitting. (Approx. saddle time 2 hours)
This is a continuous “in the saddle” ride. This is for the rider who wants to cover the most country for the amount of time spent in the saddle. We will cover a similar distance and trails to our half day without the break 1/2 way through for lunch. This ride will consist of some smaller “in the saddle breaks” for pictures. (Approx. saddle time 3 hours)
Our most popular ride! Similar to the three hour ride, but we will take a break half way through the ride. Riders can take this opportunity stretch the legs, visit, and take in the 360 degree breathtaking view from the “Vista” while your guide cooks you a delicious mountain top barbeque burger lunch/dinner. This is a large loop trail, keeping the scenery ever changing. We offer an optional river crossing at the end of the ride, conditions permitting. (Approx. saddle time 3-3.5 hours, total activity 4 hours)
Make everybody happy! This ride originates from the Rockin’ M Ranch Stables. Riders will take a horseback ride along the Scenic Salt River to our private remote riverside “fish camp” on the banks of the Salt River. Horses will be tied at the hitching rail while your guide gives instructions and helps you to catch a wild trout. You will be outfitted with quality Orvis Fly Rods and waders if desired. Anglers will get an introduction to spin fishing and a fly-fishing casting lesson. While at the fish camp your guide will prepare your group a river side barbeque burger lunch or dinner. This ride will be spent approximately 1-1.5 hours in the saddle and 2.5-3 hours fishing and enjoying your riverside meal. Total activity time approximately 4 hours. Fishing is catch and release. All equipment and lures provided. Wyoming fishing license required for all anglers 14 years and older.
The Rockin’ M Horseback Rides Salt River location enables us to offer a very unique and exclusive full day adventure. You will start your day with a 2-3 hour morning horseback ride originating from the onsite Rockin’ M Stables (may be grouped with other guests). Upon finishing your morning horseback ride you will have a small break before joining your fly-fishing guide for your (private) afternoon adventure. Your guide will navigate you and your fishing partner down the Salt River, from a drift boat, casting at Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Brown trout. (Approx. fishing time 4 hours) At the completion of your fishing adventure, you will end up back at the Rockin’ M Horseback Rides Salt River boat ramp.
All equipment and drinks are provided for this horseback/fly fishing adventure. Your guide will give a fly fishing/horseback riding lesson for those new to the sport. Spin fishing available upon request.
